CASTELLAMONTE
Last Sunday – 29 August 2021 – the season of the Castellamontese club of Red Clay ended in the Serie C national baseball championship.
It ended in beauty with an 8-7 home win over Saronno baseball. Next Sunday, September 5th – the championship ends with the seventh day of the second round but for the Canavese players there is a rest period.
The return of a Senior team to Canavese is to be considered a positive factor for a sport considered to be a niche but which boasts a long tradition in Castellamonte. Red Clay closed the championship almost in equality between wins and losses: the overall balance was five wins and seven knockouts, at least three of which were determined by bad luck and inexperience.
In a very difficult group with two battleships such as Porta Mortara Novara and Avigliana Bees, Red Clay was able to play his cards well with the other four teams.
On the last day of the championship these are the matches scheduled: Porta Mortara Novara-Avigliana Bees; Saronno baseball-Baseball Vercelli; Vikings Malnate-Athletics Novara. There Ranking at the moment it is as follows: Porta Mortara 1.000 PCT, Avigliana Bees 0.727, Baseball Vercelli 0.500, Red Clay 0.417, Athletics Novara 0.409, Saronno baseball 0.364, Vikings 0.909. –
