Parma and Pisa, which could have risked exclusion, will only be fined: the sporting process will not affect the ranking

PORDENONE. A fine of 338 thousand euros for Parma and one of 90 thousand euros for Pisa, plus the inhibitions on the managers of both clubs who were involved. These were the requests made by the federal prosecutor Giuseppe Chiné to the two Serie B clubs involved in the capital gains trial, which began on Tuesday 12 April in Rome at the FIGC Court.

The two clubs risked suffering penalty points, relegation or exclusion from the tournament, given that paragraph 2 of article 31 of the Sports Justice Code was also contested in the referral deed (which provides for these consequences) . Chiné acknowledged a mitigating factor for Emilians and Tuscans, linked to the change of ownership, which took place within both associations. Gialloblù, Nerazzurri and their fans can breathe a good sigh of relief. Any exclusion or relegation from the cadet tournament would have been a very hard blow to digest and from which it would have been difficult to restart.

A provision of this type would have revolutionized the classification of Serie B, with repercussions in particular in the salvation struggle in which Pordenone is involved. In this case, with Pisa and Parma out of the game, only two other teams would have left the category. Thus Alessandria and Vicenza, currently in the play-outs, could have been considered safe, while Vicenza and Crotone would have played for their stay in B in the play-offs. The lizards would be relegated directly as now, but they could have aimed for the play-outs considering that the distance from Crotone is four points with the direct match to be played at home in the penultimate round. In short, the hopes of salvation would suddenly increase.

It did not go like this, with the Prosecutor’s Office recognizing the mitigating factor for the clubs involved, protecting them from worse consequences. The trial will continue today and tomorrow, while the sentence could come before Easter or soon after. Furthermore, it is not certain that all the requests of the prosecution will be accepted, advanced precisely by the prosecutor Chiné, who left the offices in via Campania yesterday shortly before lunch at the end of his requests. In this regard, from companies that had taken part in the cadet tournament in the past, Chiné asked for a 125,000 euro fine from breaking latest news (12 months and 20 days inhibition to President Daniele Sebastiani), 23,000 from Pro Vercelli, 8,000 to Novara and 3,000 to the now disappeared Chievo Verona (10 months and 5 days inhibition to president Luca Campedelli).
