Tragic road accident in Egypt. A tourist bus collided with a truck in Aswan, on a highway in southern Egypt, killing at least 10 people: five Egyptians, four French and one Belgian. Another 14 people were injured, also French and Belgian tourists, believed to be “in stable condition” according to what was stated by the provincial governor of Aswan, Ashraf Attia. After the crash the bus caught fire. The incident occurred about 55 kilometers south of the ancient city of Luxor as the bus was heading to the Esna temples on the west bank of the River Nile, provincial authorities said in a statement. President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi via Twitter makes it known that he is closely following the incident and that he has instructed the government to “provide all medical and therapeutic care for the victims of the tragic accident”. Footage of the incident that circulated online showed a burning tourist bus with passengers trying to put out the fire. In the video, the logo of Misr Travel, the state-owned company, can be read on the side of the bus. The incident occurred on Wednesday, five days after another bus crashed along a highway near the Red Sea, killing three people, including two Polish tourists.
