Atlanta Braves’ Star Ronald Acuña Jr. Removed from Lineup Due to Knee Soreness
Ronald Acuña Jr., the current MVP of the National League, was unexpectedly taken out of the Atlanta Braves’ lineup for their Grapefruit League game against the Baltimore Orioles at CoolToday Park. The Venezuelan outfielder has been dealing with issues in his right knee and the team decided to prioritize his health by not having him play in the game.
Acuña Jr. will undergo evaluation by the Braves’ medical staff to determine the extent of his injury. This news comes as a concern since he missed a significant portion of the 2021 season due to a similar knee problem. The outfielder was seen participating in batting practice earlier without any issues, but the discomfort arose after the warm-up for the game against Baltimore.
Despite the setback, Acuña Jr. had an outstanding season last year, hitting 41 home runs and stealing 73 bases, a feat that made him the first player in history to achieve at least 40 home runs and 70 steals in a single season, earning him the MVP award.
