FELT

Favaro’s defeat at Rugby Feltre still burns, but the head is already projected to Sunday’s return to the Boscherai, when the grenades and San Marco will meet at 15.30. There is regret for how the first leg got out of hand, however, there is a great desire for redemption. There is little to read the rules: after the knockout 22-21, to get to B you need a two-point victory.

Enrico Perotto he is one of the veterans and his words reveal an enthusiasm and determination that allow us to understand the expectation of Sunday’s match.

«We didn’t give our best in Favaro Veneto. Apart from the first five men, who really gave everything, we could have done something more. Nobody played particularly badly, but few played a perfect match, I was the first to make avoidable mistakes. We want to get back on the pitch and give 100% ».

From 21-8 of the first half to the final 22-21 knockout. What happened in the second half on the San Marco field?

«In the first 40 minutes we failed to realize two or three occasions that shouldn’t have been mistaken, they were the opportunities to break the game. With a couple of more goals, everything would have been easier. Instead, they never gave up, as happened also in Belluno, they remained attached to the game and in the end they were right ».

What impression did the San Marco arouse?

«It’s a solid line-up, with valid changes. When they changed the entire front line in the second half, they didn’t worsen their performance, on the contrary they grew ».

What is your opinion on Sunday’s match?

«We managed the lineout well and equalized the contest in an orderly scrum. We struggled to adapt to the referees, which in our opinion changed during the second half, but this is our problem, it is not an alibi. They immediately proved very aggressive, they went up with the defense line, perhaps because they wanted to induce us to kick towards the enlarged triangle, where they have two missiles in the wings. Our backs faced equal roles just as fast, so we weren’t able to make it all the way we usually do. I repeat, on average we all played a decent match, but we did not express ourselves on the levels that the final required ».

With what perspectives did you return from Favaro?

«I am confident, we have a margin, because we have lost by one point, despite making a lot of mistakes. The home factor and our desire to give everything will count. We will not do calculations, we must win and so it must be. There is a desire for redemption. We are calm, because the important thing was the path that brought us here, with the construction of a good group, which makes the boys come to the field because they have fun and not because playing rugby is a duty. We knew we were strong, but we didn’t think we would get to play for promotion to B. We must be very proud of what we have done ».

With Venezia Mestre there is a cabal to dispel …

«In the first year in the first team Andrea Sartor and I lost the playoffs with them. We don’t want history to repeat itself ».
