CAGLIARI. It was again a sprint in compact ranks that decided the outcome of the third stage of the Italian Cycling Week on the roads of Sardinia starting from Oristano and arriving in Cagliari. After yesterday’s success, it was again the German Pascal Ackermann (Bora Hansgroe) who in the final sprint preceded the young Jonathan Milan (Barhain Victorius) and the French Rudy Barbier (Israel Start Up Nation).

The last kilometers of the race were characterized by a long series of attacks and counterattacks but the sprinter teams, Bora Hansgroe and the Italian National team above all, did not leave room for any extension, keeping the compact group up to the long straight of Viale Armando Diaz in the regional capital where Pascal Ackermann preceded by a few centimeters the young Jonathan Milan, blue of the track at the next Olympic Games in Tokyo.

At the end of today’s stage, however, Diego Ulissi confirms himself as the leader of the general classification while Pascal Ackermann leads the points classification. The Swiss Simon Pellaud wears the jersey of best climber and Giovanni Aleotti is at the top of the youth classification.
