Sierra Leone’s Tyler Gafallione shares his thoughts after the Kentucky Derby
Following the thrilling 150th edition of the Kentucky Derby, all eyes were on Sierra Leone’s Tyler Gafallione and his performance on track number two. The $2.3 million colt had a strong start, with Gafallione holding him back in the last places before making a powerful advance on the front stretch.
As the race reached its climax, it seemed like Sierra Leone and Forever Young were locked in a battle for victory. However, Mystik Dan managed to pull off a spectacular rail pass and secure the win, leaving Gafallione and Sierra Leone in second place.
After the race, Gafallione reflected on his performance, stating, “Today he wanted to lean in and he made it a little difficult. I had a hard time keeping him straight, and that definitely cost us. He gives you everything, he’s very receptive, but he loses concentration.” Despite his disappointment, Gafallione acknowledged the effort put in by Sierra Leone and the missed opportunity for a potential triple crown win.
With the Kentucky Derby now in the books, racing fans are eagerly awaiting the next chapter in Sierra Leone and Gafallione’s journey in the world of horse racing.
