Serie A: Juventus suffers upset with 0-1 loss to Udinese
In the last match of the 24th round of the Italian Football League, Juventus suffered an upset at home as they lost 0-1 to Udinese on February 12th. The loss marks a three-game losing streak for Juventus in the league.
The pressure was on Juventus after their defeat to Inter Milan in the last round of “El Clasico,” and they were in desperate need of a victory to retain their chance to compete for the Serie A title. On the other hand, Udinese, who are fighting to avoid relegation, were equally eager to secure a win.
In the 25th minute, Udinese took advantage of a free kick to break the deadlock, with Gianetti successfully shooting from the small penalty area. Despite lagging behind, Juventus launched frequent attacks but failed to make too many threatening advances.
In the second half, Juventus thought they had equalized with a header from Milik in the corner kick in the 60th minute, but the referee determined that the corner kick had gone out of the baseline first, resulting in the goal being ruled invalid. As the game neared its end, home fans began to express strong dissatisfaction. Despite their continued offensive efforts, Juventus failed to score and ultimately suffered an upset loss.
Following this defeat, second-ranked Juventus finds themselves 7 points behind Inter Milan, who sit at the top of the table, despite having played one more game.
