Hamburger SV suffered a setback in the fight for promotion in the 2nd Bundesliga. There was a 3-4 defeat at home against Karlsruher SC.

Igor Matanović (3rd/5th) gave the guests an early lead with a double strike, Bakery Jatta (33rd) and László Bénes (35th) equalized for HSV before the break. KSC also came out of the locker room better in the second half and scored through Budu Zivzivadze (46th) to make it 3-2. Although Robert Glatzel was able to equalize again for the Hanseatic League (62′), KSC had the better end after Marvin Wanitzek’s 4-3 win (81′).

For HSV, the defeat is a setback in the fight for promotion, as the team slipped to fourth place in the table. The KSC, on the other hand, improved to eighth place.

HSV now has to go to Hertha

Karlsruher SC awaits SV Wehen Wiesbaden on the next matchday on Friday (February 2, 2024, 6:30 p.m.), while Hamburger SV has to play Hertha BSC a day later (8:30 p.m.).
