Shanxi Builds International Muay Thai Competition Center to Enhance China-Thailand Exchanges

China News Service, Taiyuan – In celebration of the 48th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, a delegation led by Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan, Chairman of the International Federation of Muay Thai Associations (IFMA) and former director of Thailand’s National Sports Administration, visited Shanxi to strengthen cooperation in sports, culture, and tourism.

During the visit, the delegation explored the martial arts fighting star training base and engaged in productive discussions regarding the construction of an international Muay Thai training center in Shanxi. The parties also held a symposium on building an international Muay Thai competition center. As part of the cultural exchange, the Thai delegation witnessed traditional Chinese sports such as lion dance, martial arts routines, and Guan Sheng Qianqiu performances. Additionally, they enjoyed the excitement of the martial arts Fighting Star King Contest.

Expressing his fondness for China and Shanxi, Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan expressed his desire to introduce traditional Thai Muay Thai culture to China. He emphasized Shanxi’s significance as a hub for the development of Muay Thai culture in China, aiming to promote traditional Thai art in conjunction with China’s exceptional traditional culture for mutual growth and progress.

Following their return to Thailand, IFMA promptly organized a special seminar to discuss the establishment of the International Muay Thai Training Center and the International Muay Thai Competition Center in Shanxi. The seminar resulted in the formulation of implementation plans and action strategies.

The friendly exchanges and cooperation between Chinese martial arts and Thailand’s national martial art, Muay Thai, will undoubtedly bolster the development of Chinese martial arts fighting. Furthermore, it is anticipated that these efforts will foster economic and cultural exchanges between China and Thailand.
