Resorts World President Scott Sibella Faces Legal Woes

Resorts World, the popular Las Vegas casino, has recently been embroiled in controversy surrounding its former president, Scott Sibella. Sibella, who took on the role at Resorts World in 2021 after leaving MGM Grand, has pleaded guilty to charges that he failed to disclose information as president of MGM Grand.

The saga continues with reports of suspicious activities surrounding Wayne Nix, a former minor league baseball player turned bookie. Nix, who has admitted to running an illegal gambling business and filing false tax returns, counted NBA legend Scottie Pippen, former MLB All-Star Yasiel Puig, and Maverick Carter, business manager of NBA superstar LeBron James, among his clients.

In a further twist, Resorts World recently received a federal grand jury subpoena in August, requesting documents related to anti-money laundering policies and customer practices. As a result, Sibella was fired in September for violating company policies.

More recently, federal agents raided the home of another bookie, Bowyer, seizing various items including computers, luxury handbags, and cash from multiple casinos. Bowyer, known for catering to high-stakes gamblers as a “whale,” has a long history with casinos and has been “86’d” from several establishments in the past.

Despite the ongoing investigations and legal issues, Bowyer and his associates have continued their gambling activities at Resorts World, receiving high-level perks and compensation through the casino.

As the legal battles continue to unfold, the future of Resorts World and its former president remain uncertain. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
