Russell Wilson is making moves in the NFL once again, as sources confirm that the nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback and one-time Super Bowl winner is set to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers. According to ESPN, Wilson’s deal with the Steelers is for one year, with the Denver Broncos – his former team – footing the bill for $38 million of his salary as part of the agreement.
In a social media post, Wilson expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, writing, “Year 13. Grateful” alongside a video of the Steelers and their fans. The 35-year-old athlete had a whirlwind two years with the Broncos, ending with an 11-19 record and no playoff berth before being released by the team.
Wilson, who spent the majority of his career with the Seattle Seahawks, will now join the Steelers to compete with quarterback Kenny Pickett, the team’s first-round draft pick in 2022. With Mason Rudolph entering free agency after three games with the team, Wilson will bring his experience and leadership to the Steelers as they look to make a splash in the upcoming season.
Having thrown for over 43,000 yards, 334 touchdowns, and 106 interceptions in his career, Wilson brings a wealth of talent and skill to the Steelers as they gear up for the new season. Stay tuned for more updates on Wilson’s journey with the Steelers as the NFL offseason continues.
