Giada Specia graduated U23 Italian mtb champion in Bielmonte, in the province of Biella, in a weekend that opened on Saturday with Nicola Savi’s splendid third place among the Elite Masters.
In the women’s Under 23 race, the Pedavenese Specia dominated, clearly detaching all her pursuers, including her teammate Nicole Pesse (second over three minutes away from Feltrina). Among the Elite, Giorgia Marchet (Team Rudy Project) took home a good sixth place in the women’s race won by Eva Lechner while, in the men’s, Mirko Tabacchi settled in seventh place (first Nadir Colledani). But it was Nicola Savi, on Saturday, who made people talk about himself by hoisting himself on the third step of the podium in the Elite Masters race. «Hearing the anthem and being there on that podium», he commented, entrusting his emotions to social media, «is always a great emotion. Unfortunately I didn’t get to the start at 100% due to an injury twenty days ago that caused me a rupture of the flexor tendon of the index finger of my left hand and therefore I had to run with a splinted finger. But with the support and support of the family and all the people around I was able to stay focused to get to the best of my ability at this event, for me the most important of the season at a sporting level ».
Bielmonte was undoubtedly a tough race, marked by long climbs and steep tears. Savi was able to interpret it in the best way, finishing an excellent bronze medal.
