According to information from BR24Sport, the Munich team has chosen the current Austrian national coach as Thomas Tuchel’s successor. And the 65-year-old is now said to have expressed his interest. On Wednesday, Rangnick confirmed that FC Bayern had contacted him for the first time on the “90minuten.at” portal.

The details that still need to be negotiated concern Rangnick himself, but also the ÖFB. Their sports director Peter Schöttel responded to the rumors about his national coach by pointing out that Rangnick had “an ongoing contractual relationship” until 2026. According to reports, FC Bayern would have to spend a lot to buy Rangnick out of this contract.

Rangnick played a different kind of football at all his stations than what we are used to in Munich. The philosophy of Xabi Alonso, who led Bayer Leverkusen to the championship with possession football but turned down the Munich team, would have been a better fit. But Florian Eckl is optimistic here too: “His nickname is ‘Football Professor’. If he has the right player material, he is flexible enough.
