Sultanes Femenil Makes History with Opening Day Victory

The Mexican Women’s Softball League kicked off with a historic game as Sultanes Femenil secured a 1-0 victory against El Águila de Veracruz without allowing a hit or run. The game also saw a record-breaking attendance at Mobil Super Stadium, with 13,408 fans turning up to witness the momentous occasion.

The atmosphere at the stadium was electric as fans eagerly awaited the performance of Sultanes Femenil, led by manager Nancy Prieto. The excitement was further heightened with the presence of Tigres Femenil at the opening ceremony, where captain Liliana Mercado threw the first ball and players from both softball and soccer teams posed for a commemorative photo.

Sultanes Femenil dominated the game from the start, executing a double play in the first inning to quickly retire El Águila de Veracruz. The first run of the game came from a powerful home run by Yariana López, putting Sultanes Femenil in the lead.

The game featured a gripping batting duel, with Sultanes’ Yanina Treviño impressively retiring seven players in quick succession. El Águila de Veracruz’s Yilian Tornés also displayed strong pitching skills, adding to the intensity of the match.

Despite a well-placed hit by Maidelis Reyes, El Águila de Veracruz failed to score a run after an out running home by pinch-runner Alexa Toscano. Yanina Treviño’s stellar performance continued, recording nine strikeouts and ultimately sealing the game with a historic no-hit, no-run victory in the seventh inning.

The next game between Sultanes Femenil and El Águila Veracruz is scheduled for Friday, January 26 at 8:00 p.m. at the Mobil Super Stadium. The anticipation for the second encounter is already building as fans and players alike look forward to another thrilling match.
