In the other two civil wars between Korean chess players, Jiang Dongrun 9 dan and Jin Mingxun 8 dan defeated their opponents and entered the top 8. After the game, the draw for the quarterfinals was held.
Wang Yuanjun, a 9-dan, was born in 1996 and won the world runner-up in the 2018 “The 5th National Hand Mountain Cup World‘s Strongest Battle” competition. Shiba No Toramaru 9dan, born in 1999, is one of the “Reiwa Sanyuwu” who carry the banner of the future of Go in Japan. The two have won one match each other before.
In this game, after guessing first, Wang Yuanjun played black first. The LG Cup World Chess Championship is sponsored by the Korea Chosun Ilbo and the Korea Chess Academy and sponsored by the LG Group.
