[Epoch Times, June 2, 2022](The Epoch Times reporter Ye Chengyun reported) On June 1, the top 16 of the “27th LG Cup World Chess Championship” will have three more matches. The famous Taiwanese chess player Wang Yuanjun 9 dan finally lost to Japan’s Shiba No Toramaru 9 dan and stopped in the top 16. In the other two civil wars between Korean chess players, Jiang Dongrun 9 dan and Jin Mingxun 8 dan defeated their opponents and entered the top 8. After the game, the draw for the quarterfinals was held.

Wang Yuanjun, a 9-dan, was born in 1996 and won the world runner-up in the 2018 “The 5th National Hand Mountain Cup World‘s Strongest Battle” competition. Shiba No Toramaru 9dan, born in 1999, is one of the “Reiwa Sanyuwu” who carry the banner of the future of Go in Japan. The two have won one match each other before.

In this game, after guessing first, Wang Yuanjun played black first. In the layout stage, after Shiba Notoramaru “touched” 20 hands into the lower right corner, he captured the field on the right side. Black’s 45th hand “suppressed” the white child below (see the picture below), and the two sides immediately started a fierce battle.

In the “close hand-to-hand combat” between the two sides, Shibano Toramaru used the three white stones on the right, and turned around to settle the white stones below, which made the black stones’ attack gains limited and gained a slight advantage. At the mid-game stage, Black failed to take advantage of the first move with 85 hands, seized the key point of the A position in the lower left corner, and searched for White’s base in the lower left corner (see the picture below). Instead, he was handed 116 moves by White, and the first move was stronger, forcing Black to work hard on the left. White’s situation is increasingly favorable.

Seeing that the situation is not optimistic, Black hopes to reverse the disadvantage through robbery, but White has been firmly in control of the overall situation. The chess game entered the stage of high officials. When Black’s 185th and 187th hands attacked the white stones in the upper left team, their moves were not compact enough and they fell behind, losing the chance to win the final battle (see the picture below).

The first nine paragraphs of Bian Xiang, people are quite surprised.

So far, the first stage of this cup has ended, and the top 8 have been born. Among them, Chinese chess players occupy half of the country, and South Korean and Japanese chess players each occupy 3 seats and 1 seat. The second stage of the competition is scheduled to reignite in November to determine the two players who advance to the final.
