The 2024 Hunan-Hubei Dragon and Phoenix Marathon press conference was recently held in Beijing, marking the official announcement of the event set to take place on April 21 in Laifeng, Hubei Province. The marathon, certified as an A1 event by the Chinese Athletics Association, will kick off at 7:30 a.m. with the theme “One Horse and Two Provinces Meet the Dragon and the Phoenix.”
The event was attended by various officials and representatives, including Zhang Zuoming, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Laifeng County, Hubei Province, and Deng Chaoming, Chairman of Intercom International Group. The marathon is hosted jointly by the People’s Government of Laifeng County, Hubei Province, and the People’s Government of Longshan County, Hunan Province, with technical guidance from the Chinese Athletics Association.
With an expected participation of 23,000 individuals, the marathon will feature four events: the full marathon, half marathon, Longteng Health Run, and Phoenix Dance Happy Run. The race route will showcase the scenic beauty and cultural heritage of Laifeng and Longshan, starting from Laixitai Square in Laifeng County and passing through iconic landmarks.
To enhance the contestants’ experience, the organizing committee has added various highlights, such as providing exclusive number bibs with special meaning, self-service number selection, and free year-round travel cards for participants. Additionally, special refueling and supply stations will be set up along the track, along with shuttle bus services and cultural activities before and after the event.
The Dragon and Phoenix Marathon aims to promote the cultural and tourism resources of Laifeng and Longshan, fostering unity and cooperation between the two provinces.
