The ancient charm of the Mille Miglia on the streets of Pavia and Oltrepo

Over 400 historic cars will whiz by on Saturday 18 June, between Stradella and Pavia, for the fourth stage of the Mille Miglia. The event was presented yesterday morning at the Social Theater of Stradella, in the presence of the municipal administrators of the two cities, the mayors of the Oltrepo Pavese, the undersecretary for agricultural policies, Gianmarco Centinaio, the regional councilor for tourism, Lara Magoni; there were also parliamentarians, regional councilors, the president of the province, Giovanni Palli, the president of Aci Pavia, Marino Scabini.

On stage, with the stradellino councilor for the promotion of the territory, Andrea Frustagli, the former rally champion Miki Biasion, the sports journalists Fabio Tavelli and Ezio Zermiani, the president of the Oltrepo sporting events committee, Emanuele Bombini.

The fourth and final Parma-Brescia leg will immediately engage the vintage cars with a series of tests in the Varano de ‘Melegari circuit, to then pass through Salsomaggiore Terme, Stradella, Pavia and reach the Monza racetrack where the crews will test their skills on the track that celebrates the centenary of the Formula 1 GP. The stage will cross the Oltrepo for 30 km, touching five municipalities (Montescano, Castana, Cigognola, Broni, Canneto Pavese) to get to Stradella, which will become “time control of stage ”, and then head towards Pavia. A hundred Ferraris will pass before the historic cars arrive in Stradella (expected to start at 8 am).

In the opening greeting, the mayor of Stradella, Alessandro Cantù, recalled how the historic race “is part of a process of territorial enhancement with events that generate social well-being and positivity, especially in these difficult times, helping to spread culture and make known Stradella and the Oltrepo Pavese ». During the presentation in the theater, Biasion awarded the ex-rally driver from beyond the Po Valley Antonio Codognelli, while the champion from Veneto was in turn awarded by the young stradellino driver Davide Nicelli. –
