Football Legend Franz Beckenbauer Leaves Fortune to Family

January 8, 2024 will forever be remembered as the day the football world lost one of its greatest icons. Franz Beckenbauer, known for his historic achievements with the German national team, passed away at the age of 78. Beckenbauer had the rare distinction of winning the World Cup both as a player in 1974 and as a coach in 1990.

Following his death, details emerged about his estate and the last wishes he fulfilled before his passing. Beckenbauer, often considered the best defender in history alongside legends like Diego Maradona and Pelé, had been in poor health in recent years.

According to German magazine Bunte, Beckenbauer had prepared his will a year prior to his death, entrusting his fortune to his family. His wife Heidi, now 57, has been given significant control over the family’s properties, including the power to approve their sale.

Beckenbauer’s children, 23-year-old Joel and 20-year-old Francesca, were also named as beneficiaries of his estate. They received ownership of properties in Kitzbühel and Salzburg, two locations that hold sentimental value for the family.

The family’s home in Kitzbühel, which includes access to an exclusive ski area, was reportedly purchased for 7.75 million euros in 2020. Beckenbauer and his wife also owned a property in Salzburg, which they had initially built as a villa before acquiring it eight years later.

Aside from these residences, it was revealed that Beckenbauer had other properties and a significant fleet of vehicles in his name, indicating the extent of his wealth and investments.
