“The limited participation (150 competitors at the finish line, ed) from the overlapping of many events towards the end of the summer due to Covid has not appeased the great interest that is moving around the Grafondo del Dragone”, explains Ivan Piol, technical director of the event organized by the Asd Dolomiti Psg, an event that proposed 120 kilometers of development starting from Belluno and arriving in Nevegal, after having climbed the Vena d’Oro, the Coste di Farra and Sant’Anna, Valmorel and, in fact, the Colle climbing from Tassei and Ronce.
«At the finish line and at the pasta party in Pian Longhi, the cyclists were enthusiastic about the route and the organization. Today on social media there are many photos and positive comments. This means that we have hit the mark and that the territory has enormous potential. We can only grow ».
«Setting up this edition in such a complicated and difficult year was really hard, a demanding investment for a sports club like Dolomiti Psg», continues Piol. «We certainly have to thank Decathlon di Ponte nelle Alpi for trusting us. The municipality of Belluno, from which an idea that we then developed actually started. But now we need the help of others. I would like the Belluno entrepreneurs to believe in sport as the promotion and growth of the territory ».

But if you think a little bigger, the Granfondo del Dragone by Decathlon could be the ideal presentation postcard for a stage of the Giro d’Italia. It has all the credentials. But local administrators and others must intervene on this, ”Piol concludes, adding. «As Dolomiti Psg we are already looking at the first real edition of the Granfondo del Dragone by Decathlon which will take place on 4 September 2021. Now, however, our eyes are on Santa Klaus Running with its routes of 5-12 and 21 kilometers. to do while running or walking, scheduled for 12 December.
