The Football Association Issues Heavy Fine After Unprecedented Conflicts in Chinese League One

China News Service, Beijing, May 11 (Reporter Bian Liqun) – The Chinese Football Association has issued the heaviest fine of the season following a large-scale conflict that erupted during the 9th round of the Chinese League One match between Dalian Yingbo and Guangzhou. Five players involved in the altercation have been suspended for a total of 28 days, and all parties were fined a total of 480,000 yuan.

The highly anticipated match, which drew a record-breaking crowd of 48,632 spectators, ended in chaos, leaving no clear winner. Dalian Yingbo clashed with Guangzhou, resulting in red cards, yellow cards, and on-field skirmishes that marred the spectacle.

The game took a violent turn early on, with Dalian Yingbo player Embalo elbowing an opponent in the face, leading to his ejection from the game. The intense match ended with Guangzhou securing a narrow 1-0 victory, but the ill-tempered aftermath saw players from both teams engaging in a heated altercation.

In response to the incident, the Chinese Football Association imposed hefty fines and suspensions on the individuals involved. Dalian Yingbo was criticized and fined 200,000 yuan, with players Wang Xuanhong, Kotnik, Embalo, and Sui Weijie facing suspensions and fines ranging from 40,000 to 100,000 yuan. Guangzhou goalkeeper Huo Shenping was also penalized for his behavior.

The Football Association attributed the unruly behavior to a lack of discipline and poor sportsmanship on the part of the players and the teams involved. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of maintaining composure and adhering to the rules of the game.
