The fourth “Vertikaltovo” opens registrations and launches the challenge to the pandemic

by admin

A little more than two months after the fourth edition of Vertikaltovo, a mountain race scheduled for Sunday 3 October (2.9 kilometers of ascent with a positive difference in height of 1,000 meters to be tackled), the organizers have already decided to open registrations on the website www. vertikaltovo.it. The cost until mid-September will be 20 euros. «This edition will also have some restrictions – explains Corrado Vigitello -. The start will not take place in a line, but with the athletes who will start staggered every 15 seconds. At the moment we do not plan to provide neither lunch nor the award ceremony. Then if the conditions allow it in September, we can decide differently. In the meantime, I prefer to start with some limitations and eventually expand at a later time ».

Vigitello and his collaborators have started to fix the path that leads to the summit and have provided an interesting novelty «On the 15th and 30th of each month we will carry out a drawing by drawing lots among those who have already registered a prize offered by the sponsors. At the moment we have reached about thirty pre-registrations. Furthermore, those who manage to break records (35’06 ” for men; 44’32 ” for women, ed.) Will receive a prize of 100 euros, plus one euro for every second less. I hope that the situation linked to Covid-19 will not get worse and I want to remain confident ».

The first edition in 2017 brought just under 200 trailers to the Biella trails and saw Nadir Maguet from Valle d’Aosta triumph (35’06 ” his time), ahead of Maurizio Fenaroli in 38’21 ” and Francesco Nicola in 39’10 ‘ ‘. In 2018 successes for Emmanuel Vaudan (38”21), good to precede Mattia Lubiaz and Massimiliano Barbero Piantino and Chiara Giovando (44’32 ”). With her on the podium went Francesca Bellezza and Chantal Vallet. Two years ago, in the last test before the block caused by the pandemic, the fastest were Andrea Rostan (35’37 ”), followed by Simone Eydallin and Fabio Cavallo; while in the female Giovando did an encore taking 12 seconds more and leaving Elisa Arvat and Chiara Pino behind.
