The Chinese national football team has confirmed five candidates for the captain position as they gear up for the upcoming Asian Cup. Wu Xi will serve as the first captain on the court, with the remaining four candidates being Zhang Linpeng, Wu Lei, Jiang Guangtai, and Yan Junling. The team has begun high-intensity training in preparation for the group matches, focusing on technical and tactical arrangements for the Asian Cup.

After the Chinese team arrived in Doha, Qatar, they immediately resumed training at Qatar University. The team will now undertake “two training sessions a day” as they prepare for their first game against Tajikistan. The coaching staff is aligning the training rhythm with the game schedule to ensure the players are in top form for the competition.

The team’s 26-man roster for the Asian Cup includes many veterans over 30 years old, who are considered the backbone of the team both technically and mentally. The five captain candidates, including Wu Xi, Zhang Linpeng, Wu Lei, Jiang Guangtai, and Yan Junling, were selected based on their abilities, experience, and cohesion within the team.

The team is also focusing on the theoretical aspects of the game, including FIFA’s latest football game penalty rules, referee enforcement standards, VAR, and semi-automatic offside recognition technology. The aim is to prevent non-combat attrition or other losses due to irrational fouls during the Asian Cup matches.

It is evident that the Chinese national football team is leaving no stone unturned in their preparations for the Asian Cup, as they strive to put their best foot forward in the upcoming competition.
