Andrea Negro (Des Amis) won the fifth edition of the Punta Quinzeina memorial Alberto Vittone Trophy yesterday, Sunday 25 July, a mountain race of about sixteen kilometers. The competitors had to cover both the outward and return journeys the route from Frassinetto to the Quinzeina peak with a total height difference of 1400 meters. The race was valid as a test of the 2021 Canavese trail circuit. The event was organized by the Uisp Ivrea & Canavese committee, the Municipality, the Pro loco and the Alpini di Frassinetto. Almost one hundred competitors at the start, a record number of participants even if the weather conditions were not the most favorable.

The winner, the Turinese Negro, in the last edition of the race, that of 2019, was third. He had as direct antagonist Simone Olivetti, color bearer of Monterosa who fought for a long time for the final success, but had to settle for second place.

The winner crossed the line in one hour 45 minutes and 56 seconds, one minute from Stefano Castagneri’s race record (set in 2016). Olivetto arrived exactly one minute, while third step of the podium for Emanuele Falla (Valsusa Running) in over five minutes, followed by Davide Nicco (Pont Saint Martin) fourth and Matteo Siletto (Bergeggi team) fifth from Canavese. In the women’s field, the first Rosa Orlarej of the running Dora Baltea in two hours 18 minutes and 36 seconds, in twenty-fifth position overall, three minutes beyond the race record that remains the prerogative of both Kuzminska in 2019 and Miravalle in 2016. Second to over ten minutes came Elena Benecchi (Libertas Forno Sb). Mirella Cabodi from Cafasse completed the third women’s podium, thirteen minutes behind the winner. –
