In order to prepare for the Hangzhou Asian Games football match, the new U23 national football team of the 1999 age group will start the second training session of the year in Haikou City on March 3, and then go to the United Arab Emirates to participate in the “Dubai Cup” International Football Championship. On the afternoon of February 28, the Chinese Football Association announced the list of 22 players for this training session through official channels. Judging from the content of the training camp notice, this team will train at the same time as the Chinese men’s football team preparing for the last two rounds of the top 12, and will travel to West Asia on the same journey and return to China on the same journey after the match.
As an age-appropriate team for the Hangzhou Asian Games Men’s Football Tournament, the new U23 national football team of the 1999 age group, led by Serbian coach Jankovic, had already conducted the first training session of the year before the Lunar New Year. Affected by the epidemic, this team has not been able to participate in any international official competitions in the past two years, and it is inevitable that its preparation quality will be discounted.
At the beginning of this year, the UAE Football Association sent an invitation to the Chinese Football Association to invite the Chinese U23 team to participate in the “Dubai Cup” International Football Invitational Tournament to be held in Dubai in late next month. In addition to the U23 team of the United Arab Emirates and the U23 team of China, the U23 team of Vietnam, Iraq, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other countries, as well as the U23 team of Croatia from Europe, were invited to participate. The level of competition is also very high, which is a very rare opportunity for the Chinese U23 team, which has not been able to warm up with high quality for a long time. The Chinese Football Association and the U23 national football coaching staff also very much hope that the team can participate.
Considering that the Chinese men’s national football team will go to the United Arab Emirates and Oman in late March this year to participate in the last two rounds of the top 12 home matches against Saudi Arabia and the away match against Oman, the Chinese Football Association has communicated with the U23 national football coaching staff and proposed to arrange two national teams. The famous team went to West Asia to participate in the competition, and then returned to China on the same plane. Judging from the training notice announced by the Chinese Football Association on February 28, this plan has been approved by relevant parties.
Like the national men’s football team, the U23 national football team will kick off a new training session in Haikou on March 3. A total of 22 players were selected for this training (match) lineup. These players include Liu Zhurun of the Haigang team, Ye Lijiang of the Shenzhen Football team, Yao Xuchen of the Hebei team, Wen Jiabao of the Shenhua team, Tao Qianglong of the Dalian team, and Shan Huanhuan of the Chinese Super League last season.
It is worth noting that the U23 national football team will be stationed in the same hotel as the national football team after the concentration, and the training site will also be in the same local football base. According to the plan, the two national teams will participate in a training camp of no less than one week in Haikou. Therefore, the possibility of internal exchanges and warm-ups between the two teams during the training session cannot be ruled out. The two teams are expected to leave Haikou around March 15 for West Asia. Relevant information shows that the “Dubai Cup” will be held from March 20 to 28. The two top 12 matches of the Chinese team will be arranged on March 24 and 29 respectively, which means that the two teams will not be able to return to China until March 31 at the earliest. After entering from Shanghai, the two teams will be collectively transferred to Suzhou for necessary isolation and quarantine according to epidemic prevention regulations.
