The Norwegian cut himself on skis. Doctors saved his life by applying a tourniquet
(LaPresse) Aleksander Aamodt Source, the Norwegian champion fell during the downhill in Wengen, Switzerland. The skier literally flew into the nets after losing grip in the final “S” of the course.
There is a trail of blood on the slope, probably the result of a cut against the edges of the skis. Rescue efforts were immediate, filmed by RAI cameras, which immobilized the athlete by bandaging his leg to stop the bleeding.
Kilde was flown by helicopter to hospital in Interlaken.
