Turin sees the skating stars again. Home debut for 17-year-old Beccari

Turin embraces the stars of international skating for the Italian Grand Prix. The spotlights are back on the ice of Palavela, which in December 2019 hosted the final of the Grand Prix, the last major world event of the discipline held before the outbreak of the pandemic.

Today, during the official training, some of the stars that will shine at the next Beijing Olympics (4-20 February 2022) will begin to become familiar with the track that tomorrow and the day after tomorrow will be the scene of the third stage of the planetary circuit, the Grand Prix. Italy ranks the highest number of its representatives ever, 12, who count on the support of the home crowd.

It will be a special weekend especially for Lucrezia Beccari, third in the last Italian Championships. Growing up in the Turin Ice Club under the eyes of Edoardo De Bernardis, the 17-year-old skater from Turin moved to Bergamo for five years, but will make her Grand Prix debut in her hometown.

On the last occasion two winters ago, the Palavela was stormed by Japanese fans: this time, given the restrictions due to Covid, the Turinese, tied to this sport since the 2006 Olympic magic (tickets in sale on the TicketOne circuit).

The competitions will start tomorrow at 3 pm with the women’s short program (Beccari is involved, among others), followed by rhythm dance (5 pm), then by the short for couples (6:45 pm) and finally by the men’s short program (8:20 pm) ). On Saturday, however, the free: at 3 pm the women, at 5.10 pm the ice dance, then the couples (19.05) and the men (20.45). Sunday afternoon awards ceremony (14) and exhibition gala (15). The Organizing Committee relied heavily on the Turin 2006 volunteers and on the help of local sports clubs: the passion still lives here. –
