UEFA approves the compensation system, 2.5 billion to clubs in the Champions League – Football

Almost two and a half billion euros for the clubs participating in the Champions League, 565 million for the teams playing the Europa League and 285 for those competing in the Conference. These are the figures approved by the UEFA Executive Committee for the clubs listed in the men’s European competitions for the three-year period 2024-2027: it was in fact approved, in the meeting held in Paris and which precedes the Congress scheduled for tomorrow, the system distribution of compensation. The treasure available is 4.4 billion euros: 10% (440 million euros) will be allocated to solidarity, 7% (308 million) to non-participating clubs and 3% (132 million) to the clubs in the groups of qualification. Furthermore, 25 million euros are reserved for the Women’s Champions League and the UEFA Youth League. In detail, of the total amount available for the participating clubs in the three-year period (3.317 billion euros), 2.467 billion (74.38%) will be distributed to the teams competing in the Champions League and Super Cup, 565 million (17.02%) for the ‘Europa League and 285 for the third of the European competitions. The ratio between the three cups remains unchanged compared to the three-year period 2021/24.
Meanwhile, the Congress is scheduled for tomorrow, in which UEFA n.1 Ceferin will propose, and have it approved, the proposal to repeal the limit of three presidential terms, introduced by Ceferin himself at the time of his first election in 2016. The president, re-elected by acclamation to his third mandate last April, he renounces himself in anticipation of a possible re-election also in 2027, which would be the fourth (this is the reason that in recent days led to the resignation of the ‘Head of Football’ of the European confederation, former AC Milan player Zvonimir Boban. The Committee then chose Belgrade as the venue for the next (49th) Congress scheduled for 2025.
