After 5 years, 8 Ascoli fans (7 boys and a girl), were today acquitted by the judge, for not having committed the crime in the trial attributed to them for what happened in 2018. Incredible, but absolutely ordinary, that they already served the DASPO for a total of 24 years.
THE FACTS
On 27 December 2018 the Police stopped a minivan near Termini Imerese with our boys who had arrived in Sicily to support Ascoli in the difficult away match against Palermo. There was nothing illegal in the arbitrary search of the vehicle, only some torches were found and seized (free sale and free transport item). The 7 boys and the girl were sentenced to a total of 24 years of DASPO for a crime they did not commit, as later ascertained by the trial.
LEGAL PROCESS
Despite the evidence, no judge, no administrative or criminal court, no institution has ever revoked or questioned the measures. Appeals to the TAR and administrative requests to the Police Headquarters were of no avail. In the long and expensive mock trial, which took place with numerous hearings in a small and unattainable island court over 1000 km away from the homes of our children, the PM (prosecution) could only request acquittal for not having committed the crime. Request which was followed by today’s judge’s ruling. An absurd waste of private (our) and public money that cries out for revenge.
THE SENTENCE
Today, 5 years later, the bittersweet epilogue: the boys were acquitted but have already served their sentence in full. In fact, there are about 20 days left until the longer ones expire, and the technical times will not allow them to return to the stadium sooner.
A SHAMEFUL CUSTOM
If it may seem strange to many, the posthumous acquittal, “already taken for granted” in DASPO, has become a sad and mocking custom, which no one gets involved in, which concerns almost all trials against fans. The Daspo is in fact an administrative provision (although punitive in fact) which is issued unilaterally without any sentence, only on the hypothesis of a crime or even in a preventative manner.
Who will give back the money, the time, the private freedom, the emotions, the games to the kids who had not committed any crime? Who will pay for this mistake?
You already know the answer, unfortunately.
