Attention drivers: As of January 15, the Pico y Plata will begin to take effect in Popayán – news

The measure to organize traffic in the city will have some changes and will be reduced by one hour.

On Monday, January 15, the Pico y Placa returns in Popayán, a restriction that was suspended due to the change of Government, which took office on January 1, 2024. In addition, the new administration considered that, given the Pubenza festivities, which concluded on the 8th January, the measure had to be postponed to promote tourism.

The change in the Peak and Plate comes with the reduction of one hour from the usual schedule and the rotation of the digits.

As reported by the Secretary of Transit and Transportation, María Liliana Vargas, the restriction was thoroughly reviewed taking into account technical aspects and some changes were established, such as reducing the measure by one hour, so that it will go from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday to Friday, not including holidays.

The official added that the Pico y Placa of the municipality of Popayán will be in sync with that of the neighboring city of Cali. Likewise, it will begin with an educational campaign to inform drivers.

As of February 1 of this year, the measure will be mandatory and violators will be punished with a fine equivalent to 15 current legal daily minimum wages and the vehicle will be immobilized.

The Secretary of Transit of Popayán pointed out that exceptional applications for mobility permits related to this restriction will be received until February 15.
