Vice president of Rayados expects an exemplary sanction for Nahuel Guzmán

On April 17, 2024, Pedro Esquivel, the vice president of Striped, expressed his views on the recent incident involving Tigers goalkeeper Nahuel Guzmán and the use of a laser during a match at the BBVA Stadium. Esquivel believes that Guzmán’s actions were out of proportion and is calling for an exemplary punishment to be handed down.

“We expect an exemplary punishment for Nahuel Guzmán after the incident with the laser at the Clásico Regio last weekend. The situation is totally out of proportion, and we are expecting a sanction of equal measure,” Esquivel stated.

Esquivel also addressed concerns about the poor condition of the stadium field in recent games, attributing it to the recent replacement of three-quarters of the grass. He assured that measures are being taken to strengthen the grass and stabilize the field in the coming weeks.

In regards to the field for the 2026 World Cup, Esquivel confirmed that there is a plan in place to install a new system called the ‘Vacuun And Ventilation System’ in 2025 to improve the field’s quality. This system will also involve changing the subsoil and type of grass with new technologies approved by FIFA.

Overall, Esquivel is focused on resolving the issues with the stadium field and ensuring that appropriate measures are taken in response to the incident involving Nahuel Guzmán.
