The semi-finalists in the Limburg Cup (national) have been known. In group A for the men, Hasselt and Riemst previously secured first and second place. Genk B’s 3-0 win against Beverlo on Saturday was one for the statistics. In group B, which contains only three teams, Dilsen-Stokkem (nat. 3) caused a big surprise on Saturday by winning 3-1 against Maaseik B (nat. 2). Greenyard started with a few substitutes, but they lost considerably in the first two sets. The contribution of Meysmans and captain Janssen, among others, could not keep Mavo from winning. As a result, Maaseik B, Genk and Dilsen-Stokkem finished with 3 points. Based on the number of sets won and lost, the places in the semi-finals are for Maaseik (+ 1) and Genk (0). The unfortunate Dilsen residents (-1) are left empty-handed.
Among the women, Wellen (nat. 1), Helchteren (nat. 2), Tongeren (nat. 1) and Beverst (nat. 3) were crowned group winners. Great feat by Schovoc, who took the maximum points against series rivals Hasselt and Alken (nat. 3). “We will give Helchteren a match in the weekend of March 9 and 10,” says Schovoc coach Olivier Foets. “After that stunt against Alken, we know that a place in the final is certainly a possibility. But then we will have to play our best game. After all, Helchteren has a well-balanced team with a very experienced trainer.”
