Volpianese in the B2 women’s final, despite the 2-3 defeat in the return match of the B2 women’s playoff semifinals against the Genoese of Serteco Genova. Strengthened by the precious 0-3 advantage gained in the first leg, Wednesday 19 May, the Volpianesi just needed to win two sets to have the mathematical certainty of the final and so it was. In case of victory, the Volpianese is promoted to Serie B1.
Moving on to the game with Serteco Genoa, coach Andreotti sends the same formation seen in Genoa onto the field: Ivaldi in the dribble, Rinaldi opposite, Cane and Tessari in the band, Neffati and Salvi in the center and Pesce free and in the first two sets the hosts , after a very hard-fought start point to point, they manage to make the decisive break and reach 2-0: in the first fraction after a double point by Ivaldi on the serve, the Volpianese goes on to lead 14-13 and from here on the score expands more and more until the final 25-22, with the exclamation point on the partial that Rinaldi scores.
Things go even better for the Volpianesi in the second set, thanks above all to a break of nine points in the middle of the fraction: Serteco Genova is still forced to raise the white flag 25-12. At 2-0 at the Volpianese, however, the tile of Ivaldi’s injury arrives, so coach Andreotti opts for Martini, in addition to letting Rinaldi, one of the best in the field, catch his breath for Claudia Andreotti. The two changes, however, do not have the desired effects: in attack the Volpianese is no longer so sharp and also in reception it concedes something too much to Serteco Genova, who wins the third set 22-25, recovering from 17-13. Even the fourth fraction still speaks Ligurian, with the girls of coach Barigione who manage to win, although in the end the Volpianese tries to make the comeback from 16-24, but only managing to score five points, up to 21-24, before that the opposite host Parise scores the point of the definitive 21-25. Finally at the tie break, the Volpianese goes to the change field with an 8-6 lead, thanks to good attacks by Cane and Tessari, but the Serteco Genova does not give up and manages to overturn the situation: first they equalize the scores 13-13, then in the final it is more precise than the Volpianese subnet and wins the 13-15 victory, taking home two points.
