VT Hasselt has to postpone the match due to heating problems (Hasselt)

For the second season in a row, a boiler has VT Safesign Hasselt in its grip. In December 2022, the only Limburg first national had to cancel training and competitions due to freezing temperatures in the Runkst sports hall. And now it’s price again.

“Last week the heating broke down again,” sighs secretary Benny Maesen. “Because politicians were unable to release enough money for a new boiler last year, the very old boiler was repaired. A new boiler was then installed in August 2023. The good news is that the old boiler will be replaced this week, but as a result we will not be able to use our hall all week. And we have no guarantee whatsoever that everything will work properly next weekend. That is why I have asked the association and opponent Marke-Webis for a postponement. That proposal was accepted Monday morning.”

In the meantime, it has been since December 16 since Hasselt played a competition match. Maesen points the finger at the mayor and aldermen: “They continue to work with cheap short-term solutions for the sports hall in Runkst. In this way they abandon volleyball. I would like to emphasize that the sports department makes a lot of efforts to help us. This way we can train with all our teams in the PXL hall. Our youth competitions next weekend can take place in Spalbeek,” Maesen adds. (rkb)
