The match is one of the most iconic in football: the semi-final of the World Cup in Mexico Italy-Germany ended 4-3 for the Azzurri. There were many illustrious names in football on the pitch. Among them also Franz Beckenbauer.
Il tedesco (died on 7 January 2024, aged 78) was one of the protagonists of that match: in the 65th minute of regulation time, the defender fell in a tackle, dislocating his shoulder. The German bench had just made their second substitution and the defender remained on the pitch with a noticeable bandage, playing almost half the match with a noticeable bandage on his torso.
