Asia Wolosz is already at work with the staff and teammates present for a long and intense season, almost breathless, which will have its ideal end in May with the Scudetto final and the Champions League final: the goals are always the same, already set in the calendar, which will open with yet another challenge in Novara for the Super Cup on 2 October, will continue in November with the start of the Champions League groups, in December with the Club World Cup in Turkey and at Epiphany with the Italian Cup . «We will not have time to rest – admits the Polish setter – and I am sorry for who will come from the European Championship. We will have to push right away, but we like to have these stimuli. I have already rested a lot and am also charged up for this season; I am even more convinced that I did well not to compete in the European Championship with Poland. I have completely detached my head in recent months and I must say, even if it seems strange, that I have not missed volleyball ».
The return to Conegliano on the eve of Ferragosto coincided with some hot and difficult days to endure, but also with the meeting of old and new companions. “We stayed in touch with messages and calls over the summer, but seeing each other in person is another thing; coming back is always nice, also because some of us are also friends in life, as well as teammates ».
The first training sessions, open to fans with Green Pass, have already filled up in the stands of the Rua di Feletto gym and this was a further boost to start the year well. “It’s nice to see people face to face and up close: we have missed our fans so much (for a year and a half now, ed) and it was sad for us and for them not to be able to celebrate all the victories of the year together. It was a pity to have done beautiful things on the pitch, but in empty arenas: I hope we can go back to normal ».
As a spectator Wolosz had the opportunity to watch a bit of the Olympics with the inconvenience of the time zone. «Not seen all the races, maybe at dawn I would go from bed to sofa. I think the US deserved the victory, it was the strongest team, which showed the most beautiful, fastest, most aggressive game, a little in the Imoco style. I am very happy for Kimberly Hill: she won everything she could and retired at the best moment. With her here in Conegliano we have made the history of these four years: we will miss her, but in life there are choices and changes. We will continue to do our best, putting the new players immediately at ease ».
Frosini, who had already breathed the air of the first team, has already tasted Wolosz’s first dribbles; Omoruyi will join in a few days and the two new Americans Courtney and Plummer will arrive in early September.
