Tianjin Women’s Volleyball Team Defeats Shanghai, Ushers in Championship Point

The third match of the 2023-2024 Chinese Women’s Volleyball Super League finals took place on January 30, with the defending champion Tianjin Women’s Volleyball Team easily defeating the Shanghai Women’s Volleyball Team in straight games, securing a 2:1 lead in the series and ushering in the championship point.

The best-of-five series had been tied at 1:1 after the first two games, but the Tianjin Women’s Volleyball Team dominated the third game. Standout performances from players such as Li Yingying, Wang Yizhu, Yuan Xinyue, and Wang Yuanyuan secured the victory. The team’s newcomer, Liu Meijun, also made a significant impact with a strong showing off the bench.

In the first game, Tianjin took an early lead thanks to Li Yingying’s powerful serving, ultimately winning 25:21. The Shanghai Women’s Volleyball Team launched a counterattack in the second game but was ultimately overturned by Tianjin, who secured a 25:15 victory. In the third game, Shanghai was left demoralized and passive, ultimately losing 16:25.

Tianjin’s strong performance saw four players scoring in double figures, with Li Yingying leading the way with 15 points. The team also had a blocking advantage of 11:6.

The Tianjin Women’s Volleyball Team will now travel to Shanghai for the fourth game of the finals on February 3. A victory will secure the team’s 16th league championship.
