Yu Yiting Wins Bronze in Women’s 200m Medley at Swimming World Championships
Chinese swimmer Yu Yiting claimed the bronze medal in the women’s 200-meter medley final at the 2024 Doha World Swimming Championships on the 12th, with a time of 2 minutes, 09 seconds and 01. The defending champion, Douglas Douglas of the United States, won the gold medal, while Canada’s Pickrem took the silver.
Having swam 2:08.83 in the semi-finals on the 11th, Yu Yiting had higher expectations for the finals. However, she expressed disappointment with her final result, stating, “It did not show the results of recent training. I may have to adjust my training methods next.”
In the men’s 100-meter breaststroke final, Fink, the silver medalist in this event at the Fukuoka World Championships, clinched the championship with a time of 58.57 seconds. The women’s 100-meter butterfly final saw 23-year-old German player Kohler winning her first world championship with a time of 56.28 seconds.
Yu Yiting’s fellow Chinese swimmers Tang Qianting and Yang Chang advanced to the finals of the women’s 100-meter breaststroke semifinals, while the Chinese team emerged victorious in the women’s water polo qualifying match against the British team with a score of 15-10.
The upcoming finals on the 13th will feature five events, including the men’s 100-meter backstroke and the women’s 100-meter breaststroke, along with a men’s water polo qualifying match where the Chinese team will face off against the Romanian team.
