Genk –

KRC Genk receives Club Brugge on Sunday afternoon in a full house. “That should give us an extra push to do a very good job with a view to participating in the Champions’ Play-offs,” realizes coach Wouter Vrancken.

With a 6 out of 6 in their pocket, Genk can start the match with confidence.

“Two wins in a row have certainly been good,” confirms the Genk coach. “But just because you have beaten RWDM and Charleroi does not mean that everything will go smoothly. Club Brugge remains a strong opponent, even though the results have been lacking in recent weeks. They don’t concern us right away. It’s not that they were outplayed, they just forgot to take their moments. If you look at their core of players it is probably the best in the country. So you need guts to beat Club, you can’t come onto the field as a faint-hearted person. We have to read the game, show quality and dare to take initiative at the right moments. That way you can seize your moments and turn the details that decide a match in your favor.”

Full house

Vrancken saw his group of players react positively to the six on six during training.

“Faith has always been there in training. But what you saw more now is that players dared to push each other more. Everyone realizes that we have to continue. A victory would mean a big step towards play-off 1. If you have the support of a full house, then this is certainly a match to look forward to.”

With the exception of Fadera and Ouattara, the entire first team is fit. Sor, who scored as a substitute last week, has also had a full training week. “That gives us more options up front. Both benchers and basic players can make the difference, as we experienced last week. That is why substitutes have to bring extra energy, that can determine a match.”
