TREVISO

The highlight of the season begins tomorrow for the Treviso-Belluno volleyball with the first of a long series of youth finals. The finalists of the men’s U17 Interprovincial championship will open the dance: Volley Treviso and Zero Branco’s Kosmos Family Cakes.

The championship involved 12 teams from the provinces of Treviso, Belluno and Venice, engaged for two months, from March to May, in a regular season that was very compressed due to the covid. No surprises in the two finalists: Treviso and Kosmos, who finished first in their respective groups with full points and with 0 sets conceded, went directly to the semifinals and were waiting for the other semifinalists, who qualified through a straight match in the quarterfinals. One-way matches: Treviso overcame Portogruaro’s AuRiPort 3-0 and with the same result Kosmos won against Sile Volley Casale. «In the semifinals we started a bit tight – comments Enrico Romanetto, Kosmos coach – Casale has good technical and athletic skills and was aggressive right from the start, but we managed to find our pace. We are very happy to have reached this final after a season full of uncertainties and to play it against a famous team like Treviso; a result that also allows us to move on to the regional phase and to proudly represent our territory ».

The orogranata coach Johnny Cappelletto is also looking at the final with curiosity: «My boys will find several former teammates on the other side of the net, it will be a very interesting match. I know coach Romanetto well, we have a very constructive relationship, and Kosmos has the numbers, the game and the organization to do well ».

A men’s youth final in the category has not been played in Treviso since 2013: in recent years, in fact, the best-placed players of the regular season qualified directly for the regional stage. The race, which will be held in the Olmi building at 6 pm tomorrow, will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel of Fipav Treviso Belluno. –
