Honda Pays Tribute to Iconic 1980s “Sheepboy” with New Motocompacto Electric Two-Wheeler
Nearly 40 years after Honda first launched the iconic folding “Sheepboy” in the 1980s, the company recently announced the launch of a new electric two-wheeled vehicle, the Motocompacto. The new vehicle was showcased at the CES 2024 exhibition and is now available for purchase at a price of US$995 (approximately HK$7,768), according to Honda’s official US store.
The Motocompacto is designed to achieve zero carbon emissions and is specifically tailored for modern urban commuting. With a recommended driving age of 14 years and above, the vehicle’s unique appearance and ability to be folded into a suitcase-like state make it convenient for storage in narrow spaces, public transportation, or even the back compartment of a private car.
Measuring 29.2 inches in length, 3.7 inches in width, and 21.1 inches in height when folded, the compact design of the Motocompacto ensures ease of portability wherever the rider goes.
According to official Honda data, the Motocompacto can reach a top speed of 15 mph (approximately 24 km/h) and has a maximum range of 12 miles (approximately 19 km). The vehicle can be fully charged in just 3.5 hours, with an acceleration from a standstill to a top speed of 24 km/h in only 7 seconds.
In addition, Honda has launched a dedicated mobile app for the Motocompacto, allowing drivers to experience the thrill of driving on the road and providing convenience in managing the vehicle. The app enables users to monitor the battery level and health data, as well as use the built-in trip calculator to estimate remaining power when reaching a destination.
