Explain something on the screen on the go
The son goes on an excursion to Timmendorf Beach with the school class. Of course it’s also about marine pollution and climate change, and there’s also a museum there. There he is supposed to give a presentation for the class.
He prepares his presentation the day before and I ask him how it works technically there, whether there is a projector available or whether he does it without images. That’s not a problem, he says, most people take their iPad with them, and he can do it by sharing his presentation on his classmates’ iPads. Then everyone sees the picture he wants to show on their iPad.
I ask: “You need internet access for that, right? Do you think you have public Wi-Fi in the museum that you can all connect to?”
The son explains: “Yes, there is WiFi almost everywhere. And if not, someone in the class creates a hotspot with their cell phone, that works too, we did that on the school trip.”
That interests me, of course, and I ask further to understand it better: “And then everyone really brings their iPad with them on an excursion like this, right?”
“Nope, not all of them. But if you don’t have yours with you, just take a look at someone’s house. Or use your cell phone.”
