Microsoft Xbox Game Studios Announces āAge of Mythology: The Retellingā Remake for 2024 Release
During the recent āNew Year New Ageā live broadcast, Microsoft Xbox Game Studios revealed some exciting news for gaming fans. The popular fantasy RTS game āAge of Mythologyā is getting a remake titled āAge of Mythology: The Retellingā, set to be released on Xbox and PC (Steam) in 2024.
Developed by Worldās Edge, the remake promises to surpass the previous āDefinitive Editionā by incorporating advanced technology and improved gameplay mechanics. The original āMythic Ageā game, released in 2002, allowed players to command mythical beings and gods from Greek, Nordic, Egyptian, and Atlantis pantheons in epic battles.
The team behind āAge of Mythology: The Retellingā utilized the technology from āAge of Empires 3 Definitive Editionā to enhance the character models, upgrade graphics, and introduce new features like light tracing and increased population limits. Producer Earnest Yuen mentioned that players will now have more control over unit skills and divine powers in the game.
One of the notable changes in the remake is the introduction of a cooldown system for divine powers, adding a strategic element to gameplay. Yuen highlighted the impact of this change on e-sports events, as players and viewers will now anticipate the reactivation of powerful abilities during matches.
āAge of Mythology: The Retellingā will feature 50 campaign story missions, a new single-player/cooperative mode called āArena of the Godsā, and online multiplayer for up to 12 players. The game is set to launch in 2024 on both PC and Xbox platforms, with availability on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
Fans of the original āAge of Mythologyā can look forward to a refreshed and exciting gaming experience with the upcoming remake, blending classic gameplay with modern advancements in technology. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated release.
