Apple Vision Pro on sale from February 2, but only in the USA

Apple had promised that the Vision Pro would be available at the beginning of 2024, and the announcement arrived promptly, on the eve of the world‘s largest electronics fair, where the Cupertino company has never been officially present. Apple’s augmented and virtual reality headset will go on sale from February 2nd, while pre-orders will be open from January 19th.

In addition to announcing the availability of the headset, Apple also revealed the price of the Zeiss prescription lenses that can be ordered in case it is necessary to correct visual defects: 149 dollars.

The base model of the Vision Pro offers 256 GB of storage and comes with the following accessories:

Solo Knit and Dual Loop Headband One gasket and two light pads Case Cleaning cloth Power bank USB-C charging cable and USB-C power adapter

Apple first showed off the Vision Pro at the Worldwide Developer Conference last June. The Vision Pro has a 4K display for each eye and allows you to switch between augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) using a side wheel. It’s powered by a dual-chip setup with Apple’s in-house M2 chip and new R1 chip, dedicated to processing data from integrated sensors, cameras, and microphones. Users can also navigate the interface without controllers, as the device supports eye, head, and hand tracking.

Possible futures The change activated by Apple’s Vision Pro by Massimo Canducci 09 June 2023

Apple presented the device primarily as a way to interact with familiar apps, such as FaceTime, Photos, and Movies, as well as view space videos recorded with the iPhone 15 Pro. The company says users will be able to access more than 150 3D titles through the Apple TV app. These integrations are possible because the headset runs visionOS, Apple’s new operating system that the company says works with most iPhone and iPad apps without requiring developer intervention.

Italian Tech got to use the Apple headset for some time at launch, and the experience was actually impressive; we just have to wonder now whether it is enough to convince users to buy one, given the launch price: 3,499 dollars. Tim Cook’s company is already working on a cheaper model, which will most likely be the one intended for the global market; at the moment, however, there is no certain indication on the launch date.
