Apple Watch Users Experience Accidental Touches Triggering Irregular Screen Clicks and Password Entries

Recently, Apple Watch users have been facing a surprising and frustrating issue where their watches are being touched and triggered for no apparent reason. This has led to irregular screen clicks, with some users even experiencing their passwords being automatically entered into their watches, resulting in a notification saying, “Wrong password, please try again in 3 hours.”

It has come to light that Apple has informed authorized repair suppliers not to replace watches for users encountering this problem. Instead, they are recommending users to wait for the next software update to address the issue. Reports suggest that as early as February, Apple had flagged this accidental contact problem to authorized repair suppliers, affecting Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 initially. However, this issue has now been reported to extend to Apple Watch Series 7, 8, and even the first-generation Apple Watch Ultra.

Authorized repairers have been instructed by Apple to advise users to press and hold two buttons on the Apple Watch for 10 seconds to force restart the device. This action ensures that the watch is running on the latest watchOS version, which may help in mitigating the accidental touch problem. Users who have encountered this issue are encouraged to keep an eye out for the latest watchOS update to resolve the touchscreen sensitivity glitch.

In a recent tweet, user Stella Fudge mentioned that the problem has now been extended to Series 7, Series 8, and the first-generation Apple Watch Ultra. The tweet also reiterated Apple’s advice not to replace watches for this issue and instead recommends force restarting the watch by holding both buttons for 10 seconds.
