Apple Watch Users Experiencing Accidental Touch Issues, Apple Advises Waiting for Software Update
Reports have emerged that some Apple Watch users have been facing a troublesome issue where their watch is being accidentally triggered without any physical touch. The problem has led to the automatic clicking of the phone screen, with some users even having their passwords entered into their watches, resulting in lockouts with messages like “Wrong password, please try again in 3 hours.”
Apple has reportedly instructed authorized repair suppliers not to replace watches for users experiencing this issue. Instead, users are advised to wait for the next software update. According to sources, Apple had already flagged the accidental touch problem to authorized repair suppliers earlier this year, affecting models such as Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2. The issue has since expanded to impact Apple Watch Series 7, 8, and the first-generation Apple Watch Ultra.
To address the problem, Apple is recommending users to perform a forced restart by pressing and holding two buttons on the Apple Watch for 10 seconds. This, coupled with ensuring that the watch is running the latest watchOS version, is said to mitigate the accidental touch problem.
For affected users experiencing the unwarranted triggering of their Apple Watch, it is advisable to pay attention to the latest watchOS updates for a potential resolution.
