Nothing, the company co-founded by Carl Pei e David Sanmartin Garcia which in recent years has produced some of the most convincing Android smartphones, has chosen to use the same name as the telephones also for his new earphones. Which are called Ear and Ear A (which would be in brackets but it doesn’t matter).

Artificial intelligence at your fingertips
Beyond the technical characteristics (more below), it is above all one the feature that impressed us most during our brief contact and which is common to both devices: Nothing has established an agreement with OpenAI for integrate ChatGPT into your earphones and also in the operating system of its phones, with the idea of ”offering users instant access to this powerful technology directly from the devices they use most”. That is, earphones and smartphones.
With the latest version of Nothing OS e with the ChatGPT app installed, you can pinch the tactile part of the earphones to start a conversation with the most famous of conversational artificial intelligences. We liked this both because it works well and because it is confirmation of the company’s attention towards the world of AI later the agreement with Perplexity AI (here is our test) to use the smart search engine on your Phone 2A. From Nothing they also anticipated the intention to “improve the user experience of our smartphones” by incorporating points of System-wide access to ChatGPTfor example in sharing screenshots and widgets.

Developed as an evolution of the previous Ear 2, the Nothing Ear obviously maintains the design trasparente which has become synonymous with Carl Pei’s company, while the Ear A are available also in a new yellow colour. Both new devices support active noise cancellation up to 45 dB and have substantially similar specifications in terms of audio performance, with 11 mm drivers and 3 microphones in each individual earphone.
The Ears, which are more expensive, differ above all because support LHDC codec for low latency audio, they have a more complete and advanced equalizer which also allows the creation of personalized listening profiles, they have better resistance to water and dust and the case is also rechargeable wirelessly and not just wired. With a not particularly trained ear, however, no significant differences can be perceived when playing music between one product and another.
