The first part of The Witcher will get a remake – we’ve known that for over a year. But apparently the game is undergoing more changes than expected.

The original was published in 2007 and is therefore almost 17 years old. It’s hardly surprising that the graphics and controls need to be significantly revised in order to function today. But apparently it doesn’t stay that way. As has now become known, some content will also be adjusted.
In a conversation with GamesRadar, Jakub Rokosz, CEO of the responsible development studio, revealed that they were looking very closely at which parts of the original they could adopt and which ones might have to be deleted completely. “First and foremost, we need an honest, sober analysis of the parts that are simply bad or outdated,” says Rokosz.
Unfortunately, it is not clear from his statements which parts he means exactly. It’s quite possible that he has in mind, for example, the unusual trading cards that Geralt was able to secure in the course of his numerous romances. The combat system will probably also change a lot.
However, the essence of the original should not be lost through the changes, assures Rokosz. They want to leave key pillars of the game alone and add new parts so that they fit well into the overall picture. It remains to be seen whether this tightrope walk will be successful. It is currently unknown when the remake will be released. The long-awaited fourth part of The Witcher is scheduled to be released beforehand anyway.
