“Itsuno Hideaki Reveals Details of “Dragon’s Dogma 2″ at Taipei Game Show”

The highly anticipated open-world action game, “Dragon’s Dogma 2,” made a splash at the 2024 Taipei International Game Show as director Hideaki Itsuno shared live footage and game content with eager fans. Itsuno also opened up about his feelings regarding the long-awaited sequel being launched 12 years after the original game.

The new installment in the “Dragon Doctrine” series continues the core setting of the original game, with players taking on the role of an “awakened one” whose heart was taken by a dragon, leading to memory loss and a journey to uncover secrets.

When asked about the 12-year gap between the two games, Itsuno Hideaki explained that the delay was due to scheduling conflicts but expressed his excitement for the sequel. He admitted feeling some worry upon entering the Taipei Game Show after such a long absence but was heartened by the enthusiasm of the players in the audience.

The gaming world has changed significantly over the years, with advancements in AI technology and heightened player expectations. Itsuno acknowledged the pressure on the development team to deliver a high-quality follow-up to “Dragon Doctrine,” but maintained his original intention of bringing the game he loves to the players.

“Dragon Doctrine 2” is a fantasy adventure featuring thousands of NPCs, each with AI life, and goals of their own. The game allows players to create and customize their own follower (PAWN) and form a team of up to 4 people to explore the expansive open world through highly immersive online gameplay.

The sequel boasts a world scale conservatively estimated to be four times larger than the original game, with an expanded range of professions and options for players to explore. Itsuno Hideaki recommended the archer or warrior professions for beginners, each with their unique advantages and built-in skills.

One of the game’s standout features is the ability for players to climb and stand on monsters during battles, creating an exhilarating and dynamic gameplay experience. Itsuno also teased the importance of picking flowers in the game, hinting at their significance and even poking fun at a special pendant included in the deluxe edition of the game.

“Dragon Doctrine 2” is expected to be released on PC Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on March 22, 2024, promising an immersive and exciting new chapter in the beloved gaming franchise.
