“Once your reputation is ruined, you live unabashedly” – this motto is probably the new company policy at EA. Now the publisher has expressed a plan to increase sales. He is anything but well received by the players.

CEO Andrew Wilson wants more growth for his company. To achieve this, the publisher wants to start placing prominent advertising in its own games. According to media reports, he said that at least during a conference call with investors.
“When we think about the many, many billions of hours we spend playing, creating, watching and connecting, and where much of that engagement takes place within the context of a traditional gaming experience, we expect advertising has the opportunity to be a significant growth driver to be for us,” he is quoted as saying.
Unfortunately, he didn’t reveal exactly how the advertising would be implemented. Various models are probably already being tested internally. You don’t want to completely scare away the players, otherwise no one will look at the advertising anymore and the hoped-for windfall won’t come.
Just two days ago, EA made negative headlines. The trigger was the announcement that the upcoming Battlefield part would be a “great live service title”. Players therefore fear the use of all kinds of microtransactions and possibly pay-to-win mechanisms.
